The Rotary Club of Menlo Park hosted the annual Scholastic Achievement Awards Ceremony for local high school students on May 18 at the Menlo-Atherton High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).

Each year four local high schools are provided with up to 30 achievement awards to be given out to their students. Each school has the flexibility to identify the awards based on their unique programs and classes. Awards can be for academics, music, sports, cultural arts, etc.

The four high schools participating include Menlo-Atherton High School, Sacred Heart Preparatory, Menlo School and Eastside College Preparatory. Students are presented their awards on stage by the respective principals or school administrators in front of family and friends.

Included in the ceremony are the awarding of the Rotary Club of Menlo Park Foundation college scholarships. $135,000 was awarded to deserving high school seniors this year. These need-based scholarships aim to alleviate the financial burden of students who have proven themselves with high academic achievements.
