All eyes on new Hillview School rooftop

Hillview School has an new temporary addition, a huge crane spotted this morning lowering mechanical units and roofing material onto the top of the new performing arts building. The work was purposely scheduled for a Saturday when the crane lifting equipment could be put in place.

According to the construction website, here’s the progress on building the new school: “Roofing is complete on Buildings A, B, and C.  The roof of Building D is almost complete and the contractor will then proceed to work on Building G roof and the covered walkways.  Exterior framing is complete on Buildings A, B, C, D, and G.  Exterior framing continues on the walkway soffits and Building E.  The contractor is installing the exterior metal panels and continuing with the paper and lath installation on all the buildings. Window installation is ongoing in Building A, B, and C. Sheetrock installation and plastering is ongoing in Building A, B, and C.  Contractor is completing interior framing, rough mechanical, rough plumbing, and rough electrical in Buildings D and G.  Handrail and stair installation are almost complete and the structural slab on the exterior 2nd floor walkways have been completed.  In the months to come the contractor will complete the roofing, exterior skin, and begin to concentrate on the interior finishes.”

The new Hillview School will open on September 4, 2012. The existing school will be demolished during the summer of 2012 and new playing fields will be in place by December 2012.
