Still time to register for 2013 Tour de Menlo set for Saturday, August 17

As they have in past years, cycling enthusiasts can choose from three different routes — 65-, 45- and 35- miles — when participating in the Tour de Menlo on Saturday, August 17. Course descriptions are available online.
“The big change this year is the lunch will now be served at Menlo-Atherton High School,” emailed Tom Gibboney, publisher of the Almanac, one of the ride’s sponsors along with the Rotary Club of Menlo Park Foundation. “And all three routes will turn around at the Sycamore Wayside on Stevens Creek Road in Cupertino. Lutticken’s Deli will continue to cater the event.”
Proceeds from the ride support Rotary scholarships, other Rotary Foundation projects, and the Almanac’s Holiday Fund Drive. Riders can register in advance online and on the day of event starting at 8:00 am.

To me, these are some very athletic distances in cycling. Will there ever be shorter courses like 10 or 15 miles? I’m almost 60 and I like to ride, especially if it’s for a good cause in our local area. But at 35 miles, I might fly away to the heavens. Thanks!
