Spotted: Broken water main being repaired on Santa Cruz Avenue
Yesterday afternoon, InMenlo contributor Jym Clendenin sent us a photo of water gushing the streets and front yards of homes around Santa Cruz Avenue and San Mateo Drive.
He sent another photo shortly before 11:00 pm last night with this update: [As of] “10:30 pm about 15′ of failed 10″ water main on north side of Santa Cruz Avenue has been removed. It will be replaced by a plastic pipe, then flushed through a nearby hydrant. Water service should be restored by about 1:00 pm.”
Meanwhile, our weather watcher Bill Russ reported another .3″ of rain during the night, bringing his year-to-date total to 9:15 inches.

Sorry for the typo. The broken water main was to be back online by about 1:00 AM (not PM!), which is about what happened. Soon there after the trench was filled in and asphalt put on top. Kudos to the crew of about 6 CWSC guys who worked a couple shifts in the pouring rain to get this done.
