Do blue skies Wednesday morning mean the rain has stopped?

by Linda Hubbard on March 22, 2023

Alas, the answer is no. There was another huge downpour for about 90 minutes starting at 2:00 pm.

“Enough” we’re hearing from readers, particularly those who once again find themselves without power. And with downed trees on their property. Photo at right is from yard on East Creek Drive in Menlo Park.

InMenlo weather watcher Dennis Nugent reports his digital gauges recorded a whopping 2.75″ yesterday (March 21) and another 0.70″ today as of 4:00 pm.

That brings the season-to-date to 37.04″ — wow!

Note: Gerry Díaz, the San Francisco Chronicle’s first ever Newsroom Meteorologist, has a comprehensive report about yesterday’s storm in today’s paper. (Paywall may hinder access.)

Try not to weary of all the rain. Just know the soils, plants, and tree roots will be gulping the water in. Lots does not run off.
