Grand farewell celebration for retiring Hillview music director Richard Vaughan
A couple hundred people jammed the French Quarter in Downtown Menlo Park on Sunday afternoon (June 9) to bid farewell to retiring Hillview music director Richard Vaughan, a celebration planned by Bistro Vida owner Ali El Safy.
Attendees listened to performances by the Hillview Jazz Band, Concert Band, and String Orchestra, highlighted with a duet that paired Richard with his friend of 30 years, Michael Ahern.
City Council member Betsy Nash, who is also a former band parent, presented a proclamation that thanked Richard for his years of service and wished him well on his retirement.
