Stanford volunteers help Pets In Need rescue animals affected by LA fires
Volunteers from Stanford University joined Pets In Need staff on Thursday, Jan. 23, to assist with rescue efforts for animals affected by the recent LA fires. The team worked together to clean crates, prepare kennels, unload and feed arriving dogs, provide much-needed socialization, and assist in transferring some dogs to other shelters.
Eleven dogs were transported: 1 to SF SPCA, 5 to Humane Society of Sonoma County, and 5 remaining with Pets In Need. These dogs were rescued from the Lancaster Animal Care Center and Palmdale Animal Care Center.
In addition, Pets In Need will be welcoming 24 cats, including 10 from Stray Cat Alliance in Los Angeles and 14 from Cat Crew in San Benito, continuing their efforts to provide safety and care for animals impacted by the fires.
Community members can assist in the rescue efforts by signing up to foster animals, especially big dogs at petsinneed.org/foster or by donating to help provide shelter and medical support to animals at petsinneed.org/LAfires.
