Spotted: Girl Scouts helping the city of Menlo Park plant trees

Girl Scout Troop 6269 recently helped plant three Hybrid Oak Trees on Sharon Park Drive at Monte Rosa Drive. Public Works Tree Supervisor Natividad Alamo and City Arborist Jillian Keller provided knowledge about trees, planting and maintenance.
From late fall through spring, City staff plant trees around Menlo Park. The City helps water and maintain the trees to ensure they are established successfully and are an asset to the community.
As the trees grow, they will provide a multitude of different benefits such as:
- Reduction of stormwater runoff
- Carbon sequestration
- Cooling shade
- Air filtration
- Increase in property values
- And habitat for wildlife
The City enjoys partnering with volunteers to plant new trees. If your group is interested in volunteering, please contact the City Arborist, Jillian Keller, JMKeller@menlopark.gov.
