Portola Valley Arts Fest takes place on September 13

Taking place on Saturday, September 13 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on the grounds of the Ladera Community Church (3300 Alpine Road ), the Portola Valley Arts Fest brings together professional & local artists, musicians, writers, and families in a unique atmosphere.
Wander through the art exhibition, explore hands-on activities, pick up a handcrafted piece or a fresh-printed book, and listen to live music. Kids can join story time, dance to a local band, or chase beach balls in the sunshine.
“This year’s festival really does feel like a full line-up, and I’m especially looking forward to our theme of “writing,” says Pamela Dorrell. “I think the Book Nook will have great energy, with local children’s authors stopping by to answer questions, read stories on the spot, and share their books, including a brand-new one about the orphaned mountain lion cubs rescued in Portola Valley.
“In the afternoon, the adult author session will be a little different this year. Alongside reading from their work, the authors will talk about the realities of getting published, including how hard it can be to find an agent later in life. I think it will be useful to hear about options like SheWrites Press in Berkeley, which offers a kind of middle ground between traditional publishing and self-publishing.
“I’m also excited about the Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory leading a musical sing-along, with costumes encouraged. It feels very much in the spirit of the festival — whether it’s beautiful art in the exhibition, a child making their first book, or people singing together out on the field, it’s all about celebrating creativity and encouraging people to join in.”
Organized by the Portola Valley Creative Circle, the Arts Fest is free.
