What to Expect from FEMA in a Disaster is topic on January 15

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Brandon Bond, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the City of Menlo Park will give a talk on how FEMA coordinates response and recovery, how assistance is requested and delivered, and what local businesses and community leaders can expect during different phases of a disaster. Practical steps for preparedness and coordination will be highlighted.

The talk will take place at the Arrillaga Recreation Center (Elm Room), 700 Alma St., Menlo Park.

Pizza and drinks will be provided. Bring the kids. Bring your questions and be prepared to learn something new.

This looks like a genuinely useful community event. AND THERE IS PIZZA!

One practical add-on from my own experience as a BPC for 10 years in Palo Alto: Regardless of how federal help works, the first couple days are on you. A simple go-bag—a few days of water, shelf-stable food, basic clothes, meds, plus a flashlight/charger—can make a huge difference while things stabilize.
