Glance online for what Menlo Park resident Scott Paterson has — and is — accomplishing and the natural reaction is “really?”. But yes, the breadth of his endeavors is correct.

There’s diversity — from establishing a network for Saab owners, to founding a number of non-profits — Poverty2Prosperty in 2008 and Run Club Menlo Park in 2020.

Scott PatersonAbout Poverty2Prosperity, Scott explains that he and his co-founder — Colette Bailey  — operate with a network of volunteer interns. “That’s made it work very efficiently,” he says.

The non-profit’s focus is on repeat borrowers. “The only way to get a second loan is if they have fully repaid the first,” explains Scott. “Then we often lend more.”

One of the non-profit’s newest areas of interest is climate, with an emphasis on solar solutions for farmers.

Always embracing something new, this summer Scott is helping kids learn how to manage money funds.

It’s hard to look at photos of Scott without asking  the obvious: What’s with the flower tattoos?

“My wife got a tattoo — and that got me started. As for the flowers, I ran the gardening program at Encinal School for a number of years!”
