Lutticken’s to close on September 30 after 45 years in Menlo Park

For long-time patrons, the corner of the Alameda and Gordon will never be the same: Lutticken’s has announced it will be closing on September 30 after 45 years in Menlo Park.
“It’s just not sustainable anymore,” manager Judy Congdon, told the Almanac News. “Since COVID shut everything down, our business hasn’t come back.” Judy has worked at Lutticken’s since it opened in 1981.
In 2024, State Senator Josh Becker recognized the longtime deli as Senate District 13’s Small Business of the Year, presenting Bob Lutticken with a placard (pictured top).
“Our group still show up on most Tuesdays,” said Menlo Park resident Bob Budelli. “Bob has provided for many, many people over the years. Real sad.”
Also closing at the end of September are Lutticken’s locations on the Stanford campus and Sand Hill Road.
