Spotted: Organic seedlings at Menlo’s farmers market

Spring at Menlo Park’s farmers market marks a changing of the guard. Gone until next year is Bill the Bulb Baron and his wonderful smelling narcissus. Now appearing is Upstarts Organic Seedlings offering multiple varieties of tomatoes, lettuce, squash and herbs – most in three-inch pots. Upstarts sells heirloom and hybrid varieties selected for flavor and quality as well as vigor and disease resistance, all organically grown without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The grower has been “certified organic”  with California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) since 1990.
