Menlo-Atherton High School won the 2014-2015 Peninsula Athletic League Commissioner’s Cup. Each school in the league is awarded points for how its teams finish in the overall league standings for each varsity sport, and each school is also awarded points for good sportsmanship, while points are taken away for ejections.

Writes M-A Athletic Director Steven Kryger: “This year, our athletic program accrued a total of over 300 points, a record total for the nine years the cup has been in existence.

“This is the seventh year in a row that M-A has won the prestigious award. It speaks to the quality of our student athletes, the quality of their teachers, support staff, coaches, and overall athletic program.

“The 18 league titles (9 Varsity and 9 sub-Varsity) our teams won this year reflects the competitive quality of our sports teams, while the fact that we had no student athlete or coach ejected from a game reflects the high level of sportsmanship present in our sports program. Our teams participated in a myriad of community service activities and raised thousands of dollars for charities/non-profits such as the National Foundation for Cancer Research while our average team GPA was over a 3.25.”
