Spotted: Shooting free throws for Hoops of Hope

by Linda Hubbard Gulker on March 24, 2012

The annual Hoops of Hoop fundraiser organized by Menlo Park resident Rich Branning is taking place at the Menl0-Atherton gym today through 1:00 pm. When we stopped by participants were involved in a shoot out. Two teams were competing to see who could shoot the most free throws within a five minute period. When the buzzer sounded, it was close with one team edging the other, 224 to 215.

Hoops of Hope is the world’s largest free-throw marathon. Similar to a walk-a-thon, participants raise awareness and funds for children who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS by shooting free throws. 100% of all funds raised go directly to care for orphan children in highly affected areas.
