Can this really be January in Menlo Park?

MLK Day in Menlo Park could also stand for “Menlo Loves Kids”, as these youngsters used the day off from school to enjoy the abundant sunshine and unseasonably warm (72 degrees) weather. Playing on their Lee Drive driveway with water canons yesterday are Claire, age 4, her brother Jasper, 1, and neighbor Julia, 9.

Editor’s note: All that sunshine brings us closer to drought  conditions. At the end of 2013, we reported just 2.2″ of rain had fallen in the 2013-14 rain year and only 4.05″ in the calendar year 2013.

Note #2: InMenlo weather watcher Bill Russ reported this temperature swing on Wed., Jan. 22: “Today’s low  was 34 degrees and I recorded a high of 71.1. That is 37.1 degrees, as large a differential as I can recall recently.”
