City of Menlo Park will hold two Safe Routes to School meetings in November

The City of Menlo Park is creating a citywide Safe Routes to Schools program and is looking for your participation and feedback in the process. There are two options of meeting dates and locations that will cover the same content.

Meeting option #1:
Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
Hillview Middle School Library
1100 Elder Ave.

Meeting option #2 (Spanish translator on-site):
Wednesday, November 14, 2018, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
Menlo Park Senior Center
100 Terminal Ave.

Community input is critical to develop the program in a way that will ensure success and adaptability to each school’s community. Each meeting will cover the same topics and presentation boards, and will include the same opportunities for participants to learn more, ask questions and give feedback. Light refreshments will be provided at both meetings.

Goals of this program include:
– Getting children to school safely by promoting biking and walking
– Developing a comprehensive curriculum to instill basic safety skills at an elementary school age
– Offering resources for both public and private schools to help promote alternatives for getting children to school other than driving
