Spotted: Morris Minor 1000 still putt-putting along

As great as it is to spot a restored flashy sports car like a custom ’53 Corvette – or get acquainted with a rare Kaiser Jeepster, there’s something equally satisfying about coming upon a car that appears to just “keep on trucking” in a more modest way. About half a million Morris Minors were produced between 1956 and 1962 and one – complete with original license plate – is alive and well in Menlo. We missed the chance of snapping the car’s owner, who appeared to be of an even earlier vintage.

Brings back lots of memories! One of my best friends in high school had a creme-colored Morris Minor (and a Honda 50!). He kept it spotless – like we all did with our first car I guess! I always enjoyed the speedometer right in the middle of the dash. We had lots of fun riding around in that car.
